Lifespan – 10 to 15 Years. The average Golden Doodle lives much longer than other dogs its same size.

Activity Level – Moderate. Golden Doodles tend to be less active than Golden Retrievers and more active than poodles. A Goldendoodle is an agile and lightweight breed. They need a good walk or run every day in order to maintain good mental health.

Potential Height – 20 to 24 Inches Tall. Males will always be taller than females.

Potential Weight – 30 to 45 Pounds. Golden Doodles weigh substantially less than Golden Retrievers and more than a standard poodle. A Goldendoodle can come in three basic sizes: Standard, Miniature, and Toy. Their size is largely dependent upon whether their poodle parent was a standard, miniature, or toy poodle. Generally a Goldendoodle will only have miniature and standard miniature poodle parents

Barking – Moderate. The breed is not notorious for barking. However the amount of barking varies a great deal from dog to dog. Proper training is a key part of keeping a dog from barking excessively. They are great guard dogs.

Shedding – None to Light. Golden Doodles are ideal for people who have allergies. F1 (First Generation = Poodle bred with American Golden Retriever) Golden Doodles are slightly more likely to shed than F2 Golden Doodles (1st Generation Golden Doodle bred with a 1st generation Golden Doodle.)

Family Friendly – Yes. They get their people skills from the Golden Retriever side of their lineage.

Pet Friendly – Yes. They love and enjoy company.

Breed Origins – Golden Doodles just started being bred in the early 1990’s. American and Australian breeders started breeding the dogs so the best qualities in both breeds could be enjoyed by everyone. They are one of the most recent Poodle cross breeds that have rapidly gained popularity.

Important Breed Information – The Golden doodle takes all the positive qualities of a Golden Retriever and Poodle without any of the negatives of the two breeds. Golden retrievers shed excessively while Poodles do not shed at all. Poodles are more temperamental while Golden Retrievers are happy and more people friendly. The Golden Doodle has the best of both breeds. They are just a great addition to any home.
